PNSC plots LNG splurge
Pakistan National Shipping Corp (PNSC) looks likely to move into LNG in a big way in the next five years.
The government has given the go-ahead for the ministry of shipping to oversee a $565m spend on up to 14 new vessels through to 2017, but the exact number of LNG ships is not yet clear.
The target of 14 includes tankers and bulkers to replace the 11 vessels the national shipowner already operates, in a bid to modernise the fleet and cut the outlay on chartering ships from overseas.
PNSC will acquire the vessels using financial help from USAID, local reports said.
